What is AMAFCA?
AMAFCA stands for the Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority. It's a local governmental entity in New Mexico, created in 1963, responsible for managing and mitigating flood risks in the Albuquerque metropolitan area. AMAFCA's primary mission is to protect people and property from flash floods by building and maintaining flood control structures and infrastructure.
